Dewey vs SocialClipper: An Honest Comparison
Two tools for saving social posts, compared on the things that actually differ — including where Dewey is the better choice.
If you are looking for somewhere to keep the posts you save, Dewey is the tool you will most likely run into first. It has been around longer than we have and it is genuinely good. This page is our attempt at a straight comparison rather than a hit piece — we have tried to be accurate about what they do better, because you will find out within a week anyway and we would rather you picked the right tool.
All figures below were checked against Dewey's public pricing page and Chrome Web Store listing on 28 July 2026. Products change — if you spot something out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
The short version
Dewey is the broader, more feature-rich product, and costs more. SocialClipper is narrower, cheaper, and lets you use it before creating an account. If you want AI tagging, RSS feeds and Notion/Google Sheets integrations across a long list of networks, Dewey is very likely your answer. If you want to capture whole posts cheaply and own the output as plain files, we think we are the better fit.

Where Dewey is genuinely better
Worth saying plainly, because these are real advantages:
- More networks. Alongside the usual suspects they cover Bluesky, Threads, Substack and others. We support six: X, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- AI bulk tagging. Describe your interests and it tags your library in bulk. If you are importing years of saved posts, that is a real time saver. We have nothing equivalent.
- Deeper integrations. Notion and Google Sheets integrations, plus RSS feeds per folder. Our equivalent is a Markdown file you move yourself.
- A lifetime option. $225 once. If you are confident you will use it for years, that maths works out well and we do not offer it.
- Longer track record. They have been shipping for years and have a public review history. We are new, with the uncertainty that implies.
Where we are different
- You can try it without an account. Install, click, save. The extension creates a guest session for you, and if you sign up later everything you already saved comes with you. Dewey requires an account before the extension does anything.
- A free plan with the whole product in it.Our free tier limits how many posts you keep — 50 — but not which features you get. Dewey's free tier is structured the other way: unlimited-ish in volume, restricted in capability (manual sync, one connected account).
- Markdown export. Built for Obsidian and Notion specifically — YAML frontmatter, blockquoted post text, embedded media, inline tags. Dewey exports CSV/PDF and integrates with Notion directly; which is better depends on whether you want a live integration or portable files you control.
- Half the price. $4.99 versus $7.50 a month.
Which should you pick?
Choose Dewey if you save across many networks including Bluesky or Threads, you have a large existing backlog that would benefit from AI tagging, you want a live Notion or Google Sheets integration, or the lifetime price appeals.
Choose SocialClipper if you mostly save across the six networks we support, you want to try before creating anything, you care about keeping the full post rather than a link, or you would rather own Markdown files than depend on an integration.
There is no lock-in either way. Both tools export, so the honest advice is to install whichever sounds closer, save a real week of posts, and see which one you actually go back to. That is the only test that tells you anything.
